“Praise be to you my Lord, with all your creatures” was the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi well before the season of creation began. With this simple but profound prayer, he has encouraged believers of many generations to recognise creation as the fruit of God’s Eternal Love. The season of creation begins on Thursday 1st September, World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, and ends on Tuesday 4th October, the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of Ecology. During this season we as individuals and communities are invited to participate through prayer in sustainability projects and advocacy. The theme for this year is “Listening to the voice of creation”
5 ways to celebrate the season of creation.
¨ Pray 1st September – 4th October daily for the care of creation.
¨ Conserve water, only use what is necessary.
¨ Recycle within your home and reduce the dependency on plastic
¨ Walk or cycle instead of using your car.
¨ Turn off appliances and take plugs out, and replace inefficient appliances with more efficient ones.
