Changes at the Friary

Published on September 2, 2023

Following a recent Chapter of Friars, we bid farewell to Frs. Ailbe and Paschal and we welcome back to Ennis Frs. Hugh, Liam, and David.
Fr. Paschal McDonnell is from Tyrone and has been a member of the Fraternity here in Ennis for the past six years. We thank Fr. Paschal for his ministry especially during lockdown and on Divine Mercy Sundays. We pray God’s blessing on his new calling to the Abbey in Galway.
Fr. Ailbe comes from Waterford and has been part of the Ennis Fraternity for the past three years. He had a very visible presence in the parish as Spiritual Assistant to the Secular Franciscans, visitation of the sick, and Chaplain to Coláiste Mhuire. Fr. Ailbe is moving to Rossnowlagh, Co. Donegal. We thank him for ministry and pray for God’s blessing on his next journey in his calling as a Franciscan Friar.
As we bid farewell, we also say, welcome back to Frs. Hugh McKenna, Liam Kelly, and David Collins.
Fr. Hugh comes from Rome, Fr. Liam comes from Galway and will be lecturing in Theology in Mary Immaculate College, Limerick. Fr. David also comes from Galway. David was a novice here in Ennis and directed this year’s St. Anthony’s Novena in the Friary.
We pray that Hugh, Liam, and David will be happy in Ennis, and may we all be blessed by their presence.
