Clare County Council hosted a Mayoral reception in Aras Contae an Clair on Thursday 1st August which recognised the distinguished appointment of a son of Ennis, Archbishop Séamus Horgan, as Apostolic Nuncio to South Sudan and Titular Archbishop of Ard Streatham in Co Tyrone and the Diocese of Derry.
On Sunday 28th July the newly consecrated Archbishop Séamus Horgan celebrated the 11.30am Sunday Mass in the Cathedral. He was joined by Cardinal Christophe Pierre, Apostolic Nuncio to the United States together with Nuncios from Bangladesh and Nigeria, Bishop Fernandez from Ohio in the United States, and priest colleagues who were visiting for the Ordination.…
On Saturday 27th July at 11.00am in SS Peter & Paul Cathedral, Ennis, in the presence of his family, fellow Priests, Parishioners, Cardinals, Bishops and Deacons, Monsignor Seamus Horgan from Tobartaoscain will be called to serve as a Bishop of the Church and first ever Papal Nuncio to South Sudan.

On this Glorious Sunday evening, we congratulate the Clare Senior Hurlers, their Management and Supporters, and all involved in this historic day in the life of County Clare. The celebrations will continue on Monday 22nd July at Tim Smythe Park from 6.00pm when we welcome them home.
The annual Youth Taize Pilgrimage from the Diocese of Killaloe took place from the 1st to 7th of July. Fr Donagh O Meara, Myriam Black, and Joanne O’Brien accompanied the young people on the weeklong pilgrimage.
Our Cathedral Choir was well represented at this year’s Irish Church Music Association Summer School which was held in St Patrick’s College, Maynooth. Our thanks to our Cathedral Choir Director Fiona Walsh and Cathedral Organist Eoin Flynn for organising and arranging the choir attendance.

Shannon Airport was a buzz of activity on Friday 21st June as 189 pilgrims from the Diocese of Killaloe gathered for the annual pilgrimage to Lourdes. This year was the first time since 2019 that the Diocese was able to welcome back assisted pilgrims accompanied by Hospitality and a youth section to care for them.
